A Rottweiler in Australia
Futile efforts!

I watched a busy pair of Willy Wagtails building their nest in the rotary clothes dryer. A perfect little tea cup.

They were so cute to watch.

Loving parents. Two brown-spotted eggs in the size of broad beans.

Of course I didn't use the clothes line! But it was very clear this couldn't last. Too many enemies around: Starlings, Magpies, Ravens - all looking for a snack. So the morning after I took the photographs the whole nest was gone. Hopefully the birdies will now choose a saver place for their offspring.

birds sometimes have funny ideas about where to build a nest. you should think about offering them lots of safe places - and then try and find a good housekeeper who is fond of cleaning up after the birds. When I look at the dirt the finches make here: i know for sure where "dreckfink" comes from ... but they are really cute, and very social, and all of them are not half as loud as two budgerigars would be. and the finches always want to be friends with everybody, so they keep saying "habibi, habibi" (which is arabian for friend) all day long.
