Winter in South Australia

Chilly 11*C, strong winds and rain - it's so boring. Eating a possibility to make the time goes by. Result: 33,8 Kg

Fog! The first time that I saw fog in Australia! Perhaps it will starts to snow too?

Our weekly beach walk: Rottweiler, tan and black (instead of black and tan).

Old woman,
2011-06-05 17:12
young dog and a bicycle! Sometimes a bad combination. On Friday morning - two days ago - I decided to do our daily trip somewhat earlier than usual. So on our way we passed a young boy who was waiting for the school bus or somebody else who would pick him up. When Clare discovered the boy sitting on the side of the road she was very excited and jumped around him. I called her back and with full speed she came running and forgot how to use her brakes! So she run with full speed into the bicycle and I was flying like a bird. A big black bruise on my right thigh will remember me for the next few days about this incident.

The skin lesions

are becoming better. Around the eyes the hairless parts are nearly gone.

Autumn II
2011-05-16 11:29
Another sign of autumn: the fire season has come to an end - due to the rain in summer earlier than in previous years. The farmers are burning their fields (and as I assume also their hazardous waste: sometimes it stinks like burning tyres). I don't like it (Clare doesn't care).

Autumn
2011-05-14 22:44
A recreational walk through the forest.

Although the gumtrees don't loose their leaves a light feeling of autumn came up. A lot of mushrooms were visible but I have no idea whether they are edible. In Austria similar mushroom (Hallimasch) tasts delicious after being cooked a short time to destroy the toxins.

Clare mad like always!

Afterwards we headed to 4 different places to look for a house (I want to purchase). Three were out of the question, but the fourth ticked the boxes: price, location, property size were sensational. The only downside is the lack of water connection. Rainwater and a shared bore - I would prefer to be connected to the mains. I will sleep on it.

Shadow
2011-05-08 19:46
Clare watched me the whole day. I couldn't walk one step without being followed by her. So I assume she missed me yesterday although she didn't indicated it when I picked her up. Quite the contrary: she rarely looked at me when I arrived and went to the minder and his kids. If she would be a human being I would say she was offended. But now she knows where she belongs to.

Finally
2011-05-08 00:46
Today big day out: me, sitting the Occupational English Test, Clare spending almost 12 hours with a dog minder and his family. Outcome: OET results are being announced in 4 weeks but I don't think that I passed the exam. Clare on the other hand was great (in regard to the opinion of the minder). Two toddlers survived the rough plays of the "puppy" (meanwhile 30,6 kg). And they seriously confirmed they would love to have her again. A good sign! Right now she is sleeping like a baby and snoring like a truck driver - so it was really exciting for her too.

Some worries
2011-05-01 21:28
about Clare's skin: since a few days she is loosing hairs. It startet around the eyelids and went on all over the head. There is no other irritation like itchiness or redness - only spots from about 5 to 10 mm with hair loss. Infestation with mites is not likely because she gets an antiparasite liquid ('Stronghold' or like it is called here: 'Revolution') every four weeks [in the first place because of the possibility of heart worm infection]. I think it might be a dermatophyte infection (Microsporum or Trichophyton). Clare has her curious head in every dirt.

Next week I will buy some 'Program' tablets.

Good Friday
2011-04-23 17:03
The absolutely most 'holy' Holiday in Australia! Not one pub or 'Hotel' has opened its doors. This year the 'long weekend' is even longer: on Monday they are celebrating ANZAC DAY and because Monday is Easter Monday, ANZAC DAY is postponed to Tuesday. So from Friday to Tuesday no work at all. I decided to go for a walk on the beach.

It was pretty 'crowded': a car and a motorcycle on the road. A couple drove to the beach to catch some crabs and the motorcycle rode through the dunes (no motorbikes allowed - but who cares?). Clare was happy like always. Jumping into the water, rolling in the sand and then running like mad.
