I didn't take any pictures.
Last time when I published the video about the sheep trial (http://youtu.be/mbLJYvSrmlw) I received an email from an upset person, so this time I will not hurt the feelings of anybody.
A hand raised lamb was brought to me. The owner thought it might have aspirated some milk and is now suffering from lung infection. But a quick look and it was 100% clear: tetanus, the body stiff like a saw-horse. I tried everything - administered antibiotics and muscle relaxants, drove 150 km to purchase antiserum, tube-fed him ... But despite all efforts he died in the morning (choked on his own saliva).
The reason he acquired tetanus: last week his tail and part of his skin was cut off and became infected. It was stinking like hell. An awful procedure.

Aboriginal art

The car service yesterday took a little longer so I decided to take the offer to use a car of the company. I drove to Adelaide and visited a gallery where aboriginal art is presented (http://www.indigenu.com.au). They don't charge a fortune and therefore I purchased my very first artwork ever. It's called "Bush Medicine Leaves" and matches well to my curtains. ;-)

I also received a certificate - here the wording:
"Thank you for supporting the work of Bernadine Johnson, an Aboriginal woman from Mimili, South Australia.
...
She is true to her culture and her works are reflective of this. She is confident with her work but timid as a person, often characteristic of the people. It is interesting to note that she too produces the bush medicine leaf motif but it differs from that of the Anangu people. It is a less seen pattern but an important style to add to any Indigenous art collections...."
I like it and in my opinion the $ 75.- are well spent. It only needs a frame.

Desperate

Now I have 885 (out of 1200) seedlings but how to get them into this concrete-like soil? It takes the whole morning to dig a hole for one plant. It has been raining but only superficially. 2 cm underneath the surface it's still bone-dry. Last time I thought I will be clever and put some water in the 10 cm hole I already dug: Ha, ha, ha: the next day the water was still the way like the day before. I managed to plant 39 seedlings until today - 846 more to go.

Old dogs

I love old dogs. They are full of character. Meet Rex, a 16-year-old Kelpie.
The owners are away for 3 weeks and I was called to look after her. Meanwhile she waits for me at the gate when I come to feed her at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. And she barks when she discovers Clare behind the fence. But till now she refuses to wag her tail.
Sometimes she is still sleeping and does not want to be disturbed.
I received this present from a dog owner after I had to euthanize her 15-year-old Golden Retriever.
There is a German edition available as well.

Sheep dog trial

On the weekend I attended my first sheep dog trial. Here some impressions.
The dirtier the ute the better the contestants (?)
Somewhat more convenient travel container.
Obviously a profressional.
The blokes (judges and dog handlers) at the competition.
The victims.
Size doesn't matter - more Terrier than Kelpie, but doing a fantastic job.
Not only ground work is expected.
100% focused.
