See ya'!

Honey left yesterday. Unfortunately the truck arrived in the dark - no images about the loading possible. She behaved perfect - like always.

Have a marvellous time in NSW (hope, you'll get an additional rug, it's cold up there).

Authorities

in the country are seeming to work a little different (than I'm used to).

I walked along the property and found a dirty piece of paper. Before disposing I had a closer look:

It says:

"Called in to do a final wastewater inspection.
Everything is to standard except the designated irrigation area needs to be established instead of a single outlet. ...
With compliments....Environmental Health Officer"

No official form, no statutory period, no threat of punishment.

I like it.

Energy Bill
2012-09-01 12:05
Every 3 months I receive the electricity bill. Last time I paid $ 219,11 this time I have to pay $ 792,98! The company added an "Average seasonal household usage data" comparing the usage in this billing period with households in my area:

1 Person household used 1242.0 kWh
2 Person household used 1476.0 kWh
4 Person household used 1953.0 kWh
6 Person household used 2430.0 kWh

I was using !!! 2543.0 kWh !!! Although I have been working at night for at least 2 days a week (when I didn't heat at all). But the electric heater is eating me up. And the missing insulation in this old transportable home. In the morning it has around 11 degrees inside. It can only become better in my new home!

Flat

A screw that belongs to the shed, not to the tyre. I called the company where I purchased the tyres and asked for a home visit. The person was not very happy because of the distance but he promised to call back. While waiting I thought I will give it a try so I started to get the tools and loosened the screws. I placed the jack, lifted the car and got the spare tire. Okay I had some difficulties (sweating and swearing all the time) but I orientated myself to the manual and --- two hours later the spare tire was on. My very first tyre change successfully done. And - because I also included an insurance with my last purchase I didn't pay a cent for the repair.

'Real' spring in South Australia
2012-08-16 10:08
...means driving trough an ocean of blooming Wattle shrubs and trees.

The Golden Wattle (Acacia pygnantha) is Australia's national floral emblem as well.

My new 'bible':

There are 144 Acacia species listed. 144 Wattles in South-Eastern Australia alone! A lot to learn when planting native flora on the property. And not only Acacia, but also: Eucalyptus, Westringia, Leptospermum, Dodonea, Grevillea, Callistemon, Casuarina, Banksia, Eremophila, Melaleuca, Xanthorrhoea,...

Spring in...
2012-08-14 11:10
... no, this is not the "Wachau". We are still in South Australia:

But sometimes I have to think twice. Especially in the Barossa Valley - Wachau pure! Only the wine tastes different. I miss my Gruener Veltliner (Smaragd or Steinfeder) and my Schilcher from Styria. In my opinion the wine here tastes like chemistry. I don't want to have Strawberries, Cherries or anything similar - only wine, that tastes like wine. ...Reminds me of the following ad:

"Global Warming"

"Icy dawn greets South Australians
Friday July 6, 2012 - 12:00 EST

Frosty start for most South Australians -
The day has had an icy start across many areas of South Australia...

...The mercury dipped to -4.9 at Renmark in the Riverland and temperatures also went below zero in the state's south-east, across the Barossa Valley and in the mid-north.

Adelaide saw an icy start, below 1 degree in the northern suburbs and 1.7 at the airport, where there were several morning flight delays.

Airport officials said aircraft needed ice removed from the wings, a process Adelaide was less prepared for than some other capital cities.

Olivia Wirth, from Qantas, said it was a very unusual problem to have faced in Adelaide..."
